My professional experience
I am a General Adult Psychiatrist with many years of clinical experience. I completed my undergraduate training at the University of Liverpool and completed my psychiatric training in Central & North West London and East London NHS Foundation Trusts. I have a Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training in General Adult Psychiatry and I am a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists. I am approved by the Secretary of State under Section 12 as having specialist expertise and experience in the assessment and treatment of mental disorder.
I have worked in psychiatry for nearly 20 years with more than 10 of those years of practice as an NHS Consultant Psychiatrist. I hold senior managerial roles, including Deputy Clinical Director, City & Hackney Adult & Older People’s Mental Health Services and Associate Clinical Director for Inpatient Services in City & Hackney.
I have worked in Liaison Psychiatry, Early Intervention in Psychosis (treating patients in the early stages of, or experiencing their first episode of psychosis) and Rehabilitation Psychiatry (treating patients with chronic schizophrenia) as well as in Community Mental Health Teams and inpatient wards. I have spent many years leading as a Consultant on an inpatient psychiatry unit, and have particular expertise in looking after and treating female patients. My clinical experience means that I am skilled in managing and treating many mental health conditions including psychosis (schizophrenia, bipolar affective disorder and drug induced psychosis), mood disorders, severe anxiety disorders, PTSD, ADHD and personality disorders.
I love my work and the positive impact I can have on my patients. I help people holistically through their mental illness to a place of mental wellbeing, sensitive to their background, culture and personal preferences.
